This workshop is titled Literacy for Life and is offered on Day 1 of the P-16 Literacy Symposium at 1:15-2:45pm.
There's more to literacy than books. In a culture inundated with a constant flow of media how do students learn to sift through the constant flow of information? Why is information processing a lifelong skill? Explore the many sources of information, the perceptions of students and teachers in the processing of this information and the ways that you can model responsible information literacy for students. This workshop will discuss how to teach students to question and learn where their information comes from.
